Happy Friday, everyone! Let’s keep our thoughts going from yesterday and look at Accessories You Should Wear Over 60.
You can imagine how I will answer this question what are accessories you should wear over 60?
Well, you should wear any accessories that will add to your style messaging and make your style adjectives stronger and better. (See yesterday’s post WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR OVER 60)
That is it in a nutshell…just like clothing, style adjectives determine your best accessories.
There are a few simple things to keep in mind, so please allow me to mention those today and, hopefully, give you some inspiration.
Note please, that some of the images are older and show colors or metals I no longer wear…but they demonstrate how I use style adjectives.
Now, let’s discuss accessories you should wear over 60!
ACCESSORIES YOU SHOULD WEAR OVER 60: YOUR STYLE ADJECTIVES
Because my style adjectives include creative, joyful, and approachable, I love and wear many accessories.
However, because one of my style adjectives is the word polished, that keeps me from going overboard with my creativity…keeps me in check, if you will.
You will often see me in statement necklaces, colorful scarves, and bracelets. I have a permanently torn ear, so I usually do not wear earrings…but have chosen some clip-ons for special occasions.
Now, if you are petite and your style adjectives include artistic, dramatic, creative, bold, then my only advice is to be aware that long, large statement necklaces may over power you.
Just be careful to not allow your accessories to enter the room before you and destroy the entire message your style adjectives send.
Always begin with your outfit…an excellent foundation that speaks your style adjectives…then think how accessories would add to it.
If you your style adjectives are to tell the world over age 60 that you are elegant, demur, minimal, quiet or other words like these, then your accessory choices may be smaller, classic, and understated.
You may prefer higher quality pieces over the costume jewelry or thrift finds that I often wear.
Remember, accessories are often shiny and bright and colorful and they do direct the eye of the beholder to the accessory.
So, do think about where the necklace length hits…is that where you want it…is the scarf too long or needs to be styled differently.
It always should make your style adjectives stronger.
Most days, I think of Coco Chanel’s quote..”Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”
This is important for someone like me who loves accessories and wants to dress with that creative, artistic flair.
Please remember to include ALL of your accessories when fashioning your outfit…the gold grommets on the pants I wore yesterday are accessories…so are my glasses…..and so are shoes and purses.
I may take off a bracelet if I am wearing a long statement necklace or change from a cuff bracelet to a thin bangle.
I want the entire outfit to speak my style adjectives about me…and not say look at these accessories alone.
ACCESSORIES YOU SHOULD WEAR OVER 60: MY FAVORITE JEWELRY BRANDS
I write about my shoes and purses often, but wanted to remind you about my favorite jewelry brands.
All of these brands sell costume, creative pieces and more simple elegant pieces.
This first picture is the Southern Living Wood Torsade Pendant Statement Necklace at Dillard’s.
The gold and blue & white beads I wore yesterday was a SOUTHERN LIVING NECKLACE.
They are lovely and very reasonably priced compared to other places.
Almost all of the jewelry I wore as Mother of the Groom activities were pieces from this brand.
I just had to throw in this one, because I really like it and do not have a green one like this.
It is the SOUTHERN LIVING Beaded Short Pendant Necklace with Chinoiserie and Pearl Pendant.
There is a very expensive brand that many influencers were and support. However, Susan Shaw Jewelry is a way to get similar styles that are quality and more reasonable prices.
This is the Susan Shaw COIN TOGGLE NECKLACE.
And for those of you over 60 who are quiet, minimal and elegant, consider some of the designs at KENDRA SCOTT.
I have often gifted this brand to my daughter and DILs because they are not as bold as I am with their style…and they love the brand.
This necklace is the KENDRA SCOTT ELISA GOLD PENDANT NECKLACE that comes in several colors.
Of course, many of my bold jewelry selections have come from CHICO’S JEWELRY….and they often have sales.
I added this gold cuff bracelet last spring. It was on sale…in fact, almost all of my Chico’s Jewelry was purchased on sale…look for some of these markdowns on racks in store.
The key points from today:
- Select your five style adjectives that you want each outfit to say about you.
- Make sure that your accessories speak those adjectives, make your message stronger, and provide a good supporting cast…but not one to steal the scene.
Thank you for joining me for these pasts two days as I once again remind others about clothing and accessories they should wear over 60…to be a confident, unique YOU!
How to see you tomorrow with another trend…until then…
