devotions for women

Happy November Sunday, all! Welcome to my Weekly Devotions for Women.

I am so blessed at how this has been received, and hopefully how God is using the words to help those who are reading.

My Father God has done so much for me as His child and it is an honor to share with you all I have learned and continue to learn from my walk with Him.

If you would like to read the other devotions, just place the title WEEKLY DEVOTIONS FOR WOMEN in my search bar at the top right of this page.

One of the best lessons I learned from other Christian women was the importance of living life one day at a time.

I do not remember worrying about anything…until I became the mother of these three precious adults.

The moment my daughter entered the world as the oldest child, worry came right along with her.

From that moment on I worried about …..everything…and like most young mothers would take those worries to my Bible Study ladies for prayer requests.

One week, a seasoned mom said to me…You must learn to live one day at a time….too often, I was sharing thoughts of WHAT IF? something happens….

WEEKLY DEVOTIONS FOR WOMEN – GOD’S WORD

She shared with me this verse from Jesus speaking in the book of Matthew Chapter 6.

I can remember looking at her and saying…but how do you do this…she replied, “It is a choice to give God your concerns one day at a time…every morning.”

When you begin to think “But WHAT IF?…” or today’s decision may mess up tomorrow…She said, “You must immediately pray and ask God to remove those thoughts, doubts and worries and help you to just focus on the one day.”

This is the verse right before the other…when we seek God first…His Kingdom…His righteousness…then the promise is… He will provide and protect.

I confess that it took me awhile, 30 years ago, to train my mind to think on the current day we are living. I still would have worry rear it’s ugly head, and sometimes it still does, but I would immediately pray.

Now, I live one day at a time to a point to where it feels natural, and the worry feels unnatural when it happens.

We women are the best worriers around. Yet, I have stopped with my “WHAT IF?” game.

I thank God for what He has given me this day, and I lift up the entire day for me and my family in prayer.

Learning not to play “WHAT IF?” is so liberating…and it doesn’t mean that I am not aware of all going on in the world around me, I am just not going to allow worry to control me.

God is in control.

Another part of living life one day at a time, is also choosing to enjoy that day…no matter what it may hold for me. That one day is a gift.

My kitchen timer is often dirty…because I am touching it while in the process of cooking something I just put in the oven.

But the timer helps me know when to check on the creation.

As I grow closer to God through constant prayer, He becomes my timer to remind me when a matter or family member needs my attention.

The Holy Spirit directs me and then I do not need to worry about when to act….God is directing the time.

In addition to worrying, I often want to be in control of the results. Living one day at a time has taught me to yield the control to God.

Again, it takes practice and awareness of our relationship with God….seek Him first with all of it.

But, I can say it comes with so much freedom, peace, and increased faith…all incredible benefits.

Practice this week living one day at a time…enjoy the moment and give the rest to God our Father.

Let me know if I can pray for you this week…you may also email prayer requests to [email protected].
