Happy Fall Friday, all. Welcome to my thoughts on my fall outfits from my 50s to my 70s and what I have observed.
What is sometimes very interesting about being a blogger for so long, is that I can look back over my fall outfits from my 50s to my 70s.
Overall I like where I am at over age 70…except for much needed work on my health….adding extra weight does affect my overall health and is the main reason this must change.
I still believe that no matter my age, I should do all I can to look and feel my best…that is also an important part of our mental health as well.
So, let’s go to a little bit of my past, and then I will discuss today’s outfit.
FALL OUTFITS FROM MY 50S TO MY 70S: PAST OBSERVATIONS
When I first went through my wakeup call and then re-invention, I was a high school teacher and had tons of fun with fashion.
I was growing and learning at this time, and my styles always included fun accessories and color.
Those fun accessories and the love of color has stuck with me.
This was when I just wore colors that I liked, and had not even heard of color analysis.
Black was a huge part of my wardrobe, and in looking back at all of the pictures wearing black, I can now see the dark shadows cast on my complexion.
In my late 50s and 60s, I moved back into the professional work world of office buildings and meetings.
My styles became more polished and structured.
I still believe wearing structure in a blazer is perhaps my best looks.
However, I have discovered in my 70s that shorter jackets and cardigans are more flattering on me…even at my current size.
When I looked back on this picture, my eyes went straight to the ombre effect on this jacket and how it emphasizes my middle section and is really not flattering at all.
You may not feel like I do, but those of us who do struggle with middle weight often think that longer garments will hide it….obviously that is not always the case.
I have made so many mistakes in my life of fashion just attempting to hide and streamline. This jacket would be one of them.
FALL OUTFITS FROM MY 50S TO MY 70S: TODAY
This fall outfit is what I wore to Bible Study this week…and I like it and felt very confident wearing it.
The striped shirt is past J.Jill, and the pants are past Talbots, and the necklace is really way past Chico’s, and the bracelet is past Soft Surroundings, and the shoes are past SAS.
The star for me is THE CHICO’S CREPE OPEN-FRONT RUANA in the dried mushroom (brown) color.
It is one size fits all, and comes shorter than many of these garments. You will see several comments that did not like the shorter length…but for me, I do like the length.
It also comes in black and is on sale. I really like the material and feel of this garment and love the way it hangs.
I can also dress it up or down.
In my 70s, my fall outfits include both structure and relaxed pieces…I now enjoy both, but find the relaxed is fitting my lifestyle better.
The rather large bag is an old purchase at the Sundance Boutique in San Antonio. It is perfect to hold my notebook and Bible for my study time, as well as, a water bottle and purse needs.
I am also so grateful that at age 72, cell phone cameras are MUCH improved! Would love to own the latest.
I like becoming a lighter, brighter, more relaxed Pamela!
How about you? What style changes have happened for you from your 50s and beyond?
Any thoughts on the post….Fall outfits from my 50s to my 70s…
Thanks for being here…I will be back tomorrow with the latest in the 2025 Fashion Trends…until then…..
