Every Saturday, I have posted items in the 2025 fashion trends, and today it is capes.
Capes do come and go (like most fashion trends) but this year we are seeing them in, not only capes, but in capelets and clothing designs.
I do these features so that you know what is on trend and why you see them often.
Also, if you have trend items already in your closets, pull them out and wear them for current looks.
Often, capes and ponchos are lumped into the same category, but in selecting items for you to look over today, I really stuck to capes or capelets.
Let’s begin with our feature photo today, and look over 2025 Fashion Trends: Capes.
2025 FASHION TRENDS: CAPES – DEPARTMENT STORES
It’s always good to begin with Ralph Lauren, and I thought this was a particularly chic look.
This is the LAUREN RALPH LAUREN WOMEN’S WOOL BLEND CAPE COAT at Macy’s.
Also, at Macy’s is this BELLE & BLOOM ON MY MIND WOOL BLEND CAPE.
Most of the department store capes I located where on the higher price ends…in fact, some were priced from $1000 to over $1200…I did not include those!
Nordstrom offered the most variety in designs of capes and some of the highest prices. I went with mid-range and variety in designs to show to you.
This one is called a cape. It is the DIARRABLU WRAP CAPE.
Here is another one…called a cape…but completely different in design.
It is the MICHAEL KORS DOUBLE FACE WOOL BLEND CAPE.
It was one of my favorites.
Most define capes as practical outerwear or fashionable accessory.
They can be quite fashionable, like this raincoat design at Nordstrom.
it is the DONNA KARAN NEW YORK WATER REPELLENT RAINCOAT WITH CAPE.
Also on trend for the past two years are shorter length jackets, coats and now, capes.
This is the MAJE SHORT CAPE-EFFECT TRENCH COAT.
Another trench coat design…goes a bit longer…
It is the AVEC LES FILLES HOODED CAPE RAINCOAT at Nordstrom.
And another that is even longer is the AVEC LES FILLES FAUX SUEDE CAPE TREND COAT.
You will see this design in other locations as well.
Nordstrom brings us this VINCE CAMUTO CAPE DETAIL CARDIGAN…what do you think?
2025 FASHION TRENDS: CAPES – A VARIETY
Now, I will show you a variety of designs and colors that I located at different brands.
This is PATRICIA NASH HAND LACED CAPE WITH CLASP…and it comes in four colors.
There are other shorter capes available.
This trendy capelet is from Target.
It is the CAPELET SHAWL.
And this lovely one at Walmart really surprised me.
It has a great loOK.
This is the BLVB WOMEN’S FALL WINTER ELEGANT CAPE CARDIGAN and is only $20 and comes in other colors.
Here is another short trench coat version and found at the Loft…on sale.
It is the TWILL TRENCH CAPE.
Another sale offering in a cape is at Talbots.
It is the SHORT TRENCH CAPE in green fern.
I wanted to include this blouse on sale because it has the cape design.
This is at Chico’s and is the GEORGETTE CAPE BLOUSE in a pink called rose smoke.
Capes can be chic, elegant, stylish and a nice alternative to coats and jackets.
I own one from two years ago at Talbots and really enjoy wearing it.
